# Site Migrations

We offer **free site migrations** on all hosting plans. Whether you're moving one site or a full reseller with many accounts, our migrations team handles the move for you.

## What we migrate

* Website files
* Databases
* Email accounts and messages (where accessible)
* SSL certificates (or we reissue free ones on our side)
* DNS zone records (where accessible)

## How to request a migration

1. Log in to the Hosting Panel at [https://clients.stablepoint.com](https://clients.stablepoint.com).
2. Open a support ticket with the **Migrations** department.
3. Provide:
   * Your old host's control panel type (cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin, custom, etc.)
   * Login details for the old hosting (control panel, or FTP + database access)
   * The domain(s) to migrate
   * Anything special we should know (custom cron jobs, unusual configurations)

For cPanel-to-cPanel moves we can usually transfer full accounts wholesale, which is the fastest and most complete method.

## Timing and downtime

Most single-site migrations complete quickly — the exact duration depends on the size of the account and the speed of the old host's network. We can schedule migrations for quieter periods on request.

To achieve a zero-downtime cutover:

1. We migrate the site while your domain still points at the old host.
2. You (or we) verify the copy on our servers.
3. You update the nameservers/DNS to point to us.
4. Both copies stay live during DNS propagation, so visitors are served either way.

  Keep the old hosting active for a few days after the switch, until DNS has fully propagated and you've confirmed email is flowing to the new server.

## Speeding things up

If you can obtain a full cPanel backup from your old host, upload it to your account with us and tell us the filename — we'll restore it directly, which is often the fastest route.
